Due to a mechanical issue (well pump) in the school building, the DAMASCUS AREA SCHOOL will operate on a Flexible Instruction Day (FID – virtual learning) on Friday, February 13, 2026.

Damascus students should not report to school on this day. Instead, they will complete their instructional activities and assignments from home via remote learning. It is anticipated that the mechanical issue will be resolved and school will resume normal procedures on Tuesday - February 17, 2026, following the holiday weekend.

This communication DOES NOT impact any other Wayne Highlands school. All schools, other than Damascus, will operate normally (to include transportation), on Friday - February 13, 2026.

Honesdale High School Holiday Concert

This year the Honesdale High School Music Department will be bringing holiday cheer at their annual Holiday Concert on Monday December 18th at 7:00 P.M. in the Honesdale High School Auditorium. The concert will feature the Chorus, Band, Chamber Choir, Wind Ensemble, and Guitar Ensemble. As you enter the performing arts center you will be greeted by the holiday sounds of our Guitar Ensemble led by Mr. Rembert Meszler.

The Chorus will be performing classic favorites such as “Angels We Have Heard on High” and the popular “Hot Chocolate” from the Polar Express movie. A special dedication to our Armed Forces will be given as the Chorus sings “I’ll Be Home for Christmas”. The Band is touching on many genres of music and cultures as they apply to the holiday season. Songs with a pop influence and some old favorites will be sure to bring a cheerful atmosphere to all ages. You will also be able to view our Holiday Lights Show that is put on by our Center Stage Club led by Mr. Shawn Garing.

This fun-filled evening will take place on Monday December 18th at 7:00 P.M. in the Honesdale High School Auditorium. Tickets are $5.00 for adults, $3.00 for students, and free for anyone with a Red and Black Pass
