Due to a mechanical issue (well pump) in the school building, the DAMASCUS AREA SCHOOL will operate on a Flexible Instruction Day (FID – virtual learning) on Friday, February 13, 2026.

Damascus students should not report to school on this day. Instead, they will complete their instructional activities and assignments from home via remote learning. It is anticipated that the mechanical issue will be resolved and school will resume normal procedures on Tuesday - February 17, 2026, following the holiday weekend.

This communication DOES NOT impact any other Wayne Highlands school. All schools, other than Damascus, will operate normally (to include transportation), on Friday - February 13, 2026.

Congratulations to Senior Brianna Cobourn

Congratulations to Senior Brianna Cobourn who graduated from Lackawanna College this past weekend with an Associates Degree in Professional Studies. Brianna has been taking college credit classes since the end of her Sophomore year to earn this degree. Brianna earned multiple credits through some of our Honesdale High School dual enrollment classes, but also took several college classes at Lackawanna during her time outside of the normal school day. Next year Brianna will attend East Stroudsburg University to dual major in Early Childhood Education and Special Education, a journey that will only take 2.5 years thanks to the dedication and hard work Brianna has put forth during her time as a Honesdale High School student. Congrats to Brianna and her family!!
