Due to a mechanical issue (well pump) in the school building, the DAMASCUS AREA SCHOOL will operate on a Flexible Instruction Day (FID – virtual learning) on Friday, February 13, 2026.
Damascus students should not report to school on this day. Instead, they will complete their instructional activities and assignments from home via remote learning. It is anticipated that the mechanical issue will be resolved and school will resume normal procedures on Tuesday - February 17, 2026, following the holiday weekend.
This communication DOES NOT impact any other Wayne Highlands school. All schools, other than Damascus, will operate normally (to include transportation), on Friday - February 13, 2026.
Artistic Talents Highlighted

The artistic talent in the Wayne Highlands Middle School is abundant and there is no project that Kathryn Beisel's students won't tackle. Allison Billard and Abby Meagher were presented with the challenge of designing, cutting and painting a wooden mural that will be displayed on the walls in the school's gymnasium. These two young ladies spent many hours outside of their scheduled art class to complete the mural. Both of the girls play on the junior high soccer team and were thrilled that the mural for this year would be a soccer ball.
Allison is an 7th grade student in the Middle School who participates in both soccer and track. She was also involved in designing logs that will be painted on the walls in the girl’s locker room. She's looking forward to using her artistic talent on next year’s mural.
Abby is an 8th grader in the Middle School who participates in soccer, track, basketball and band. She's looking forward to enhancing her artistic talent in the high school.
